Why is it necessary to ground screened or shielded network cabling systems?
The importance of grounding screened or shielded network cabling systems is related to performance. A network cabling system that has been properly grounded transmits noise currents induced by electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the environment to the ground together with shielding, in this way protecting the conductors which carry external noise data. The aluminum shield or foil, also minimizes the cabling emissions. These functions are the ones allowing the screened or shielded cabling systems’ superior inmunity to alien crosstalk and other sources of conducted or radiated electromagnetic interference.
